A Wonderful Week and it is only Wed.

Here is another Card that I did for the Pile It On Challenge Blog http://pileitonchallenge.blogspot.com/ The challenge this week is to use watercolors on your project. Check. I am really bad, I bought these really cute digi stamps and now I can't find the name of the company right off hand but I promice I will find it soon and let you know because I bought several different stamps from them. I am beginning to really like some of the digi stamps out there. Anyway I used water colors to color this. I combined it with Saturdays challenge from Secret Crafter http://thesecretcraftersaturdaychallenge.blogspot.com/ which was to use 3 buttons, 2 designer papers and at least 1 ribbon.
The next challenge is the sketch this week for Our Creative Corner http://www.ourcreativecorner6.blogspot.com/. The 4th challenge is from Daring Cardmakers http://daringcardmakers.blogspot.com/ which is to alter the edges. You can't see it in this photo but I did distress the outside edges and then as you can see I used a lace punch on the green and pinking shears on the black strips and I use a scalloped nestie and hand cut scallops on the black.
The color combo comes from Papertake Weekly http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com/but it was for last week they change the challenge every Tuesday. I still like the color combo. The final challenge comes from D.R.S Designs http://drsdesignsblog.blogspot.com/2009/02/challenge-15-tag-it.html Tag It. Use a tag on your project. I have a second card that I did this week but I can't show you yet. Because..... This Saturday August 1 is the second anniversary of Verve Designs. Yea! And they are having a blog hop. Yipee! And I am #50 on the hop. Blog Hops are so much fun, I love them, and you also have a chance to win a super cool prize from Verve that is hiddenat one of the stops along the way. One lucky commenter on that blog will win Verves entire August release. That is a fantastic prize.
Because it is George and my 27th Wedding Anniversary that day also I have a give away too. I will pick 1 or 2 random commenters to win a selection of my hand made flowers and some altered papers. Woo Hoo! So don't forget to join in the fun on Saturday Start at the beginning http://www.vervestamps.blogspot.com/ and have fun.
Last Saturday was my niece Catie and Jasons wedding. Here are some of the pictures I took.

A Kiss to seal the deal.

Mr. and Mrs.

One Family

This is a page I made Monday using a sketch form 52Sketches52Weeks #29. I http://52sketches52weeks.com/used Websters Pages Papers and a few other things. This is a photo of Maddie leaning on her Grandpa waiting her turn in the wedding. Jason had vows for Maddison also and gave her a beautiful necklace. It even made George choke up. I have to tell you this was a very nice and relaxed wedding and we all enjoyed it.

The word Adore is cut from a piece of PP and I used glitter gel pen to outline it and then I used Distress Ink to color the lace and added a heart and key from Making Memories.

I cut the flowers from one of the pattern Papers and then dry embossed from the back to give them shape and depth and then used some glitter pen to highlight them.

I just love this pearl flourish from Prima.

Another layout using a sketch by 52Sketches52Weeks sketch #30. This is my grandson Logan, a little pill acording to my daughter. The papers here are K & Company

This company always has a ton of elements to add to your layouts, Stickers, rubons chipboard, even stamps. Don't you just love these frogs?

More frogs

And finally, this evening, I did this layout for the Chinese Whispers Challenge over at Pages In Time http://pagesintimestoresite.ning.com/ for July. This was so much fun. I hope Julie will host another one for August. I am amazed at how close this came to the layout that Kelly did before me. The concept for the Chinese Whispers is that the first person does a layout and then sends it on to the second person then that person does a layout from the first and then sends on instructions, etc. Go check out Challenges in the Pages In Time Forum http://pagesintimestoresite.ning.com/forum/categories/challenges-1/listForCategory

I distressed all the edges of the pattern papers and then I punched holes in the lettering.

I added felt to the piece of pp and then used stickels to accent the flowers.

Okay that's it for this evening, Hope you had fun.
Have a great rest of the week and I hope to see you all back here on Sat. for the Verve Blog Hop

A very Long Two Weeks

This last week has been so crazy. my mom ended up in the hospital a week ago Tues. and had some nasty tests run and then they sent her home and she was back the next morning. More tests and a long stay and she is finally back home now and she gets her first solid food today since last week. I hope she starts getting stronger now.

Now for this weeks projects. There are a few that I can't show yet that I did manage to finish. But for now I just have three projects. This first one is intresting in that I found a new blog called Pile It On http://pileitonchallenge.blogspot.com/ while I was blog hoping the other night. The idea is to combine as many sketches as you can on one card or layout. So for my card I used the colors required by Pile It On which is mostly Orange.
The sketch is Mojo Monday http://www.mojomonday.blogspot.com/ sketch # 96
Dutch Dare Card Challenges http://dutchdare-cardchallenges.blogspot.com/ challenge #56 is to use die cuts ( nesties for circle in center) or punches ( border punch at the bottom)
PaperPlay Challengeshttp://paperplaychallenges.blogspot.com/ week #26 is favorite chocolate/candy mine is Chocolate Covered Orange Sticks. So I added Choco Chip cardstock to the mostly orange.
The next challenge is from 365Cards http://365cards.blogspot.com/2009/07/day-139-try-technique.html from last Fridays Try Something (Paper Piercing) which I did around the center circle and along the 3 strips of PP.
Finally the last challenge is from OCCChttp://ourcreativecorner6.blogspot.com/ Triple play, use at least 3 different embellishments. Rhinestones, Crystal Effects, Mini Beads, all in the center of the flowers.
The papers I used for these challenges is Basic Grey Ambrosia and the Stamp I used for the flowers is from Verve Stamps.
Here is a close up of the flower centers that I did using rhinestone, Crystal Effects and Mini beads. OCCC triple play.

This is my first Layout for my Design Team work for Pages in Time http://pagesintimestoresite.ning.com/profile/KarenMattison for July. You can get all the yummy supplies that I used in this layout at the Pages In Time Store. The papers I used here are Basic Grey Whisteria collection. For the background of the photos I painted out all the clutter with white acrylic and then I used a sharp awl to scratch the surface and then I doodled in pencil and filled in the lines with stickels.
The flowers are a combo of purchased flowers and die cut flowers that I layered up and enhanced with glitter pen and rhinestones. I just love making flowers. I distressed all the edges of the papers with distress ink. This layout is from Julie Bonner from 52sketches52weeks http://52sketches52weeks.com/ I just love her sketches, do check them out.

Last weekend there was a Christmas in July over at Pages In Time http://pagesintimestoresite.ning.com/profile/KarenMattison and I feel awful because I didn't even get time to let you all know about it. I did manage to get one layout finished for it.

Have a great day everyone.

We Have A Winner

First Off I want to thank everyone that came by my blog on the SNR Card Universe 4th of July Blog Hop. Wow! It was so great getting all the wonderful comments from everyone. This was my first blog hop and the only thing I would have done differently was have those who came by leave e-mail addresses so I could E-mail You that You Won. So I hope You all come by this morning to see if you won. I decided that I should have 2 winners since I had so many entries. So
So without further ado the Winners Are
SILVIA
and
ALI DARLING
You need to e-mail me at memesackman@yahoo.com with your addresses so I can send you your prize. As far as I can tell there were only one Ali Darling and one Sylvia that left comments. To be fair I will wait until Wednesday and if you haven't claimed your prize I will draw another name.
Congratulations both of you and again Thank You everyone who participated in the Blog Hop. It was a great success. And check out SNR Card Universe next weekend for another big Event.

I did get some scrapping done this weekend also. I picked up the new Basic Grey Lemonaed and June Bug papers and couldn't wait to use them so here they are. The first layout uses Lemonade. I call this Modern Vintage. Vintage Image totally modern paper. The doily is vintage though. It is one that belonged to my mother-in-law. Also I scraplifted this page from Gabriellep. I don't usually scraplift but I was so taken with this layout I couldn't resist. You can find more of her Super Wonderful work at
http://www.scrapbook.com/myplace/index.php?mod=galleries&u=84905.

I am making a tutorial for these flowers so check back in a day or two and I will have the steps down. The strip that goes under these flowers has been punched with a couple dfferent size hole punches and then tape applied to the back and super fine glitter sprinkled on.

The image here is printed on white vellum and then I use iron on fusible web between the image and the background paper to fuse the image. This works really well for these larger images and you dont have any visable adhesive. The background paper and the orange colored piece of paper are made with gloss paper and alcohol inks. I just love this little dollar stamp and couldn't resist using it here.

The flower in the center here is made from some jewel encrusted organdy that I die cut and then layered and added wire strung beads for the center. The other two flowers are made from white silk flowers and then I used a sponge to apply color from ink pads. Punch a small flower and add a heart rhinestone for the center.

I did this flower by cutting the acrylic and a background white with a Sizzix die and then used alcohol inks in the new Tim Holtz pens to color the acrylic piece. The flowers on the top two layers are die cut from tissue paper and I used gel pen to accent the edges. I threaded some beads on wire for the center of the flower. I used stickels for the gold flourish doodle and accented the paisley pieces with puff paint.

I have been waiting and waiting for this paper so I could scrap these photos of my grandson and daughter coloring eggs at Easter. I like the elements that go with the paper and the stamps are very fun. I got out my acrylics and added some to the background cardstock. I love using bubble wrap to stamp on paper and the combing tool creates some great texture. I cut flowers and leaves from the patterned paper as well as stamping on pattern paper and cut them out. I used Irene Tans Distressin with a ruler technique on the edges of the photos here only I used my pokey tool (awl) because I have more control. http://scrapperlicious.blogspot.com/2007/05/using-steel-ruler-on-photographs.html I added some brads that I colored with alcohol ink to some of the centers of the flowers on the sticker strip on the left.

Now how cute are these stamps? And the dog? There is one pattern paper that has all these great dogs on it. I used this one here because Logan has a winner dog named Hank. I did some hand stitchingg on this page. I really like the look and will have to incorperate it in more LO's

I just had to throw this photo in. Those chipboard birds are the cutest. Ireally like the red and gold ribbon.

Have A Great Week Everyone.

My grand daughters in their 4th of July sunglasses and pinwheels. I was really lucky and had the girls every day last week except Fri . I just had to make a Layout for this Hop with them in it. I painted the wood letters with crackle paint and then red paint and then did a black wash. i didn't have numbers in the wood letter set so I used Fun Foam number 4 and lower case th. When I painted them and treated them like all the others they look the same.

I traced out the reverse mask by Tim Holta on blue cardstock and then just used a metalic pen for the gold dots.

My mother gave me a magazine a while back that had belonged to my Auntie Freda. My mom knew that I would get a lot out of it. It is fragile so I keep it safe on a shelf protected and when I want to use something from it I just photocopy it. The magazine is called The Delineator and is from 1924. The photo in the center of my LO if from a Butterick Pattern Add. The Happy 4th of July and other sentiments were cut from a gift bag that I bought at our local dollar store.
I cut all sizes of stars for this and did some bead work. I also used rhinestone stars and sequin stars.
Now hop on over to Leahs blog at http://paperblossoms.blogspot.com/ and see what she has in store for you . Have a nice Hop.
Have a Great Weekend, and a Safe and Fun 4th Of July
