Our First Challenge at Bugaboo Stamps

This week at Bugaboo Stamps we are having our first Challenge.
The Challenge is a card challenge-Non Traditional Color Valentines Day Card
Anyone can join, Bugaboo digi's are not required, but if you use a Bugaboo digi you get 2 entries for prizes.
Grand prize winner receives 7 Bugaboo Digi Stamps of their choice! And because it is our first challenge, we'll throw in a couple more prizes! Second place will get 4 digi stamps of your choice. Third place will get 2 digi stamps of your choice!!!
Here are the three samples I made. The first uses Bugaboo's JJ bakeing. A Sweet Valentine treat for her Sweetie. Papers here are from s.e.i. and I colored the image with my copics. This one uses one of the Butterfly Bears. Papers are My Minds Eye. Copics markers. I printed the image three times and then cut the heart shapes from each one and layered them up to make a whole.
You can get a better idea of how I did the hearts with this close up.

This last one uses 3 of the Little Monsters images that I merged together in photoshop. I colored with Copics and the paper is Basic Grey. I used Crystal Effects on their bellies to give dimension. Sorry I just had to use Red for the background.

Have a great day everyone. I know I will. I will take photos and tell you all about my day tomorrow. Have fun with the Challenge.

Freebie Friday at BUGABOO

It is Freebie Friday over at Bugaboo Stamps. WOO HOO! These are too cute, don't you think?
For this card I used papers by American Crafts and colored the image with Prisma color pencils. I use Mineral Spirits for blending.
Well run on over and grab your two freebies this week and check out all the great cards the Design Team made with these images. I'm A Fighter, I love the bow on her dress. I think this is a fun image for a very serious cause.

All right, so remember to share with us when you make a card using one of our Freebies. You can leave a link in a comment on the blog Catch The Bug or you could join us at either Paper Craft Planet or SNR Card Universe.
I have a ton of stuff I want to do today, when don't I? I just wish I had more hours in each day. So remember to join us tomorrow and all week for our First Challenge over at Bugaboo Challenge Blog

Have a great day everyone.
I will be back early tomorrow morning to share the cards that I made for the Challenge and then I am off to Coupertino to spend the day with one of my favorite paper artists Irene Tan. Scrapperlicious! I have been waiting for this day for a long time. I will tell you all about it next week.

It Is Tuesday; New Release and Sketches

Today is New Release Day Over at Bugaboo Stamps. Run to the Catch the Bug Blog and check out the new stamps and the wonderful projects that the Design team made using them.

This is the card that I made using the pup. Is he adorable or what. I used Basic Grey papers for this and don't you just love the heart and pearls at the bottom. For the background on the heart I cut a mask of the dog and then used a sponge and Pink ink to color it in. Then I used versamark pen and chuncky embossing powder to cover the surface and then you must heat from the underneath to melt. That way you don't blow the powder all over.

The heart on the left is meant to be a cupcake topper and as cute as it is I don't think I would do the beads again. Not if you were going to do a lot. The one on the right is a sucker cover. See the next photo for the back. I printed the image (Bugaboo Stamps Butterfly Bears) and then I colored them with my Copics. I then covered the colored image with versamark and crystal clear embossing powder. I cut the heart shape out and then used the smoosh and lift method to color the background.

This is a wonderful heart shaped box that I made using a template that I found at Martha Stewart.com I used the new Cuttlebug Damask Frame set that I bought last week. It is a combo pack, a die and an embossing folder. I used pink cardstock for the base, Basic Grey papers for the hearts and the image is one of the wonderful images from Bugaboo Stamps. Valentine Baskets. I painted the bunny with irridescent white paint to get that shimmery look.

Here is what it looks like with all the candy spilling out.

Here is the back side of the gift box. Love that folder.

SKETCHES BY TAMARA

JOURNALING CHALLENGE #104
Today is Sketches By Tamara Day Also. Each month one of the sketches is a Journaling Challenge. And to tell you the truth it is always difficult for me to journal on my layouts so I enjoy these challenges. This month the challenge is to "Journal About Something in your life that you have overcome. It can be something very personal and of great importance or something that was a big moment or change in your life." Well this layout says it all. I always had a cigarette in my hand for as long as I can remember and most of the time for more years than I care to remember I had a glass of wine or drink in my other hand. I never thought I would be able to quit....until I had a Heart Attack. That worked. I am getting ready to celebrate my 2 year anniversary on Feburary 3. I have gained a ton of weight since then but I have not smoked or drank since. I am very proud of myself. I look at these pictures of myself and I miss those days and times but then I look at the pictures of the Cigarette butts and I don't miss that. I miss having a glass of wine but I don't miss having hang-overs and feeling yucky. I really miss being skinnie but I just need to exercise and stop eating all those ice cream bars.

So please pop on over to Sketches and check out what the other Design Team members did with this challenge this week. And remember if you decide to do this challenge we would love to see it.

Have a great day everyone.

A Quick Little Tutorial

Last week I showed this card during the New release Tuesday for Bugaboo Stamps. Tomorrow is another new Release so don't forget to check it out over at Bugaboo and come back here for another tutorial as well. I had several requests for a tutorial on how I made the buttons that I used on the card, so here goes.
You will need an applicator and some Alcohol inks. I use Adirondack. You can buy the applicator that Adirondack makes but I used an old wood stamp, applied a piece of hook side of velcro to the back of the block and cut pieces of felt to fit the top. I bought these buttons at Wall Mart in the craft section. You could also use light colored buttons. Start by dropping some of the ink on one corner of the felt. You want to saturate the corner. Then just using the corner daub ink on button. You want to work in layers.

Layer one. It only takes a few minutes for the ink to dry. Add a few more daubs and watch what happens when you touch previous inked area. It is magic. Have fun and play with this.

You have to be fussy when applying the ink. You can't just press the inked section of the felt flat on the button and be done. You need to work in layers. If you don't like the way something looks you can use the Ranger Blending solution and remove the ink/ Sometimes just daubing the blending solution on will move the ink around and create some interesting effects. The possibilities are endless. You can add another color to the other corner if you like. Waste not, want not. I haven't thought of that saying in a long time.

I colored these clear dots that I picked up in the flower section at Michaels.

I used glossy card stock here and the alcohol inks. You have to be careful. You might just start inking everything in site. Acrylic works really well. Metal washers, nuts and bolts, staples and mirrors, even photos.

Check back tomorrow and I will show you how I did the background on this image.

Have a great day you guys and I hope you all let me know how you like this tutorial and if you make some buttons be sure to share your creations.

Friday Freebie at BUGABOO

It is Friday which means a Freebie over at Bugaboo Stamps. WOO HOO! run and get yours. Don't forget to check out all the other gals blogs to see what everyone is up to. There is a list over there on the side bar. You can pick up your Freebie HERE at the store. How cute are these?
Here is my card I made with Margaret the nurse we don't want to run into. LOL I used My Minds Eye Paper for this and colored her with my Copics Markers. For the hair I added some Snow Marker by Marvey. Draw it on, heat it up and poof snow. I don't know how to spelll that. Poof looked good to me. I also used Crystal Clear on her eyeglasses and lips tp add a little dimension.

And then How cute is this Pup in a basket. This would also make a perfect Sucker Cover. I'll have to make one to display. I used Bo Bunny paper for this and Copics Markers as well as some Stickles and a couple of rhinestones. That is a paper Doily behind the main image.

Have a great day and the weekend is here, Have a fun time whatever you are doing.

Sketches By Tamara New Challenge

This is a Crard Sketch this week at Tamaras. This is #103. I love all the layers here and the scalloped edge and the stitching ...It is a very fun sketch to do. As always if you would like to see what the other Design Teams did with this sketch visit Tamaras Blog. Also let us know if you use this sketch so we can come and see it. Just leave a link in the comment section.
Now for the card I made. The stamp I used is one of Tim Holtz, and the paper is My Minds Eye.
Again I love all the layers and the stitching is fun. I used the smooch and lift technique for the backgroun paper under the bird and sentiment. I taught my 5 year old granddaughter how to do this technique yesterday and she loved it. I wish I would have taken a photo of her work. She comes back tomorrow I'll have her bring it back.

I hope you all have a good day and since it seems to be raining all across the country, drive safe out there.

New Release At Bugaboo

It is a New Release Day over at Bugaboo Stamps " Meet Mildred". Our resident Grannie. I love how Jodie describes her"The one who can get by with saying anything because shes a grandma."
This is the first card I made with the new image. The image is I'm In Shape. This is how I feel. This is a Tri Fold Card. It is very hard to photograph this to show how it looks open.

I"m So Far Behind... again sounds like me. I love these colors and the buttons turned out really cool. Aren't these images cute?
I am also entering this card into the Pile It On Challenge for this week, which is to "Tie It Around" use at least 3 ribbons. and the second Challenge is for Dare You 2 Digi Stamp. use buttons and of course you have to use a Digi Stamp. About those buttons...

I found these buttons in the craft section at WallMart when I was grocery shopping last Sat. I just loved the shapes and textures. So I used Tim Holtz Alcohol inks to color the buttons. I also colored some glossy cardstock to match which I will use on another project.

Here is a close up of the finished buttons. Just think of the possibilities. By request I am working on a Tutorial on how to do these buttons and decorating paper and images with alcohol ink. Check back a little later. Okay? I have to go buy some more buttons so I have a stash.

Have a great day. I'm off to work on projects.

Bugaboo Blog Hop

Good evening everyone. Welcome to my blog and if you are comeing here from Sandyes blog you are in the right spot. This should be your last DT stop but don't forget to go back to Bugaboos Blog to check in and let us all know what you thought of the hop.
I am so proud to be on this design Team. On New Years Eve I found Jodies Images and fell in love with them. I am thrilled that I have this chance to be a part of this team. It will be fun to watch Bugaboo grow. I hope you all have enjoyed the hop tonight. Here are a few things that I made to show off Bugaboo Stamps.
I feel the same way about housework as JJ does. I don't have the red heels, maybe I should get some. There are 7 JJ images in all so far and they are all too cute. This is My Minds Eye Paper and I used Copics to color the image. Faux stitching. This is a stand up card that I made using the cute Cupie Image from the store. there are 7 different images in this series and everyone is adorable.

I used My Minds Eye Paper, colored the image with copics and used ice Stickles on the Bubbles.

So here is the blog Candy that I have for one lucky person that leaves a comment here on my blog this weekend. The Hop goes through Monday night at 8:00p.m. eastern, so jump in there. I made these adorable buttons in 3 different images and 3 different sizes and you can use them on Cards or layouts or the med size ones could even be used as a coat pin or barrette. Jodi has a 7 different Block designs in the store. These are so cute.

Hand embrodiered felt and Copic colored images in three different sizes. 4 ea. of 3 designs small, 2 ea. of 3 designs medium, 1 ea. of 3 designs large.

I hope you have had a great hop and that you will come back often to visit both here and at Bugaboo Stamps. We are small still but as you can see we won't stay that way for long. These images are so much fun. So go tell all your friends and go back to the beginning and leave a final comment to be entered into the grand prize drawing.

It Is Time For A New Challenge

It is time for a nother challenge over at Sketches By Tamara. This week is a Recipie Challenge. Here is my take on the challenge. I'm on the Design Team. Woo Hoo, I still love saying that. Anyway the recipie is to use Rub-Ons, Flowers and Bling. I was in heaven when I saw that.
This is a photo of KayLynn (my grand daughter) that I took on Christmas. Her hair isn't really that red it is golden blond but the light in the room made it turn out like this. Isn't that beautiful? The sketch is one from Tamara from last year and you can find all the sketches on her blog on the sidebar. So you are never without a great sketch. The papers I used here are Basic Grey, Origins.
I used Rub-Ons at the corners of the layout as well as on the photo itself. These are BG that go with the paper. This is a journaling tag that hides behind the photo. How cool is that? Again you can buy these too. The flower is a Hero Arts Stamp stamped on acrylic and then colored with Tim Holtz Alcohol inks. And that wonderful piece across the top is a die cut by Sizzix and then I put a piece of packing tape behind it, trimmed it and sprinkled with MS glitter. I did the same on the upper corner of the photograph.
More Hero Arts Flowers stamped on DP and cut out. The mirrors are wrapped with eyelash ribbon.
Here is a close up of the elements.

Have a great day everyone. I intend to.

A Busy Weekend

I spent the weekend cleaning and organizing my studio. Well I still have a lot more to go and a bigger mess than when I started. I did get a few cards finished and I started a layout. A lot of the weekend was spent in and out of the forums at Paper Craft Planet. At Bugaboo Stamps there was an impromptu Challenge and it was our first week together as a Design Team so it was a lot of fun and I had a chance to get to meet other members of the team and see old friends as well as new . I am so excited about these Stamps.
I made a card for the Inspirational Card Sketches this week. This sketch is fantastic. And check out this adorable image by the Digi Stamp Boutique. This is one of the images from the New release this month. There are 5 of these little cuties. Go check them out soon there is a sale going on right now.
This is for the challenge this week over at Digital Tuesday Challenge. We were supposed to make a Valentine for a loved one. I will give this to George this year. After 27 years of marriage we don't do things like give Valentines. WE should change that. I did this adorable card using an image from Shirleys2Girls and papers from the dollar bins at Target and I colored the elephants with Copics and then I put a coat of Rock Candy Crackle Paint on them for that wonderful elephant hide effect. The hearts are filled in with Stickles in different colors.

Close up of the skin. So Cool!

I bought this image from the Stamping Botique Sat. morning and this was the first thing I worked on. I just happened to have the perfect paper sitting on my desk. My Minds Eye. And how cute is that wonderful flower paperclip? The buttons I picked up Sat. Morning while doing my grocery shopping at WallMart. I just had to take this photo of my desk when I was finished with my card. This happens with every project. Then I clean off my desk and start all over again.

This was the Friday Freebie this week at Bugaboo Stamps. We ended up having an impromptu Challenge also and I think it was a great success. You should also check out our group at Paper Craft Planet. It is a great group of gals and we are just getting started but I think you all would like it if your not already a member. I used a lot of shiney stuff on this card. I used Crystal Effects on the tulip and tulip hat. Stickles on the stem and and rabbit and dots on wings. Liquid Pearl on the wings.

I will be back in the morning with my sample for this weeks Challenge by Tamara.
