National Scrapbooking Day With Pages In Time

This Saturday May 2nd is National Scrapbooking Day . Karen and the Pages In Time design team invite you to join us for a day of fun challenges, games and chat.
There will be RAK'S given away for individual challenges and one main prize award.
Check back Saturday at 7a.m. EST for the official kick off of Pages In Time's first online mini crop. Rules and guidelines will also be posted at this time.
These are photos that I too about a month ago of the girls poseing in the Spring Hat I bought them from a dollar bin. Cute hu? KayLynn promptly found a loose string and destroyed the hat in no time. What do you expect from a dollar hat and a four year old?

I hope you all have a really nice day and I hope to see you Saturday.

Announcement Yea!

I am so lucky! But then again,I cant't fix this weird thing that happened on this page just now so I can't tell you all the reasons. I was trying to tell you all about the Blog Awards that I was given last week which is such an honor.Im' just going to post this and I will do another post and explain the awards. In the meantime this has been a fantastic day for me. If you look over to the left at the very top in the margin there is a blinkie that says I Design for Pages In Time Scrapbook Store. Yea for Me! I am so excited about this. This is a relatively new community and we have some incredibly talented members. So come on over and join us.http://pagesintimestoresite.ning.com I think this is going to be so much fun . I really wanted to be on this team and now I am. Yea! again! I did do a few cards and layoutsthis week, but not as many as I would like. This is for a challenge at 52sketches52weeks http://52sketches52weeks.com that I try to do everyweek. I love Julies sketches and I new when I saw the sketch for last week that I could finally use that sheet os acrylic that I had in my stash. KayLynn is on this side and Claudette is on the other. These photos and the layout were perfect for this. I also used one side for a Distressing Challenge over on the Pages In Time Forum.http://pagesintimestoresite.ning.com Distressing is so much fun.
I used alcohol ink to color the edges of the acrylic. First I cut a stencil and then daubed on the ink. These are som from the new line of lite and bright inks by Tim Holtz.

And this is the other side, a page with our beautiful, growing up way to fast, Claudette. This was so much fun to do. It was a challenge making everything fit and compliment each other and cover up adhesives from the other side. This shows the distressing on the photo and paper really well as well as the flower in the lower right corner. It is really a bunch of rub on flowers from Stampin Up' http://www.stampinup.com/

that I have had around for awhile. I mounted them on a circle of acrylic and then hid the dimensionals with rhinestones. Cleaver hu?

Close up shows the holes backed with scotch tape and the sprinkled with glitter technique. I love the way this works and then last night when I went to 52Sketches52Weekshttphttp://52sketches52weeks.com/ one of the DT member showed how to use a hole punch on your text and I was thinking that it would be fun to back it with tape and glitter.

More close ups of flowers and leaves and more distressing.

I did this for a flower over on the Pages In Time Forum. The challenge was to use flowers. Think I nailed that one don't you? Of course these are some of our littlest flowers that are growing so fast. There are a lot more and I will get photos and make another page later. The flowers come from a digital download that I bought a while back from Weeds and Wildflowers http://www.weedsandwildflowersdesign.com/ . I don't do digital but the digital stuff like these flowers and the papers can be printed and used. Hybrid scrapping. It is fun. Anyway I cut out and the layered the flowers with die cut and punched flowers. I added some rhinestones and buttons to the centers of some but the best use the kids pictures as centers. Along the bottom I cut 1/2" strips of faux wood paper into strips and made the picket fence. Then I drew vines for sweetpea vines and added flower soft to do the sweet pea flowers.

The ladybug and the flowers on the outside of the fence are those little unfinished wood flowers from Michaels. They really look great here. I knew they would come in handy some day.

The second page in my 8"X8" book made up of Mojo Monday sketches. This paper is some K&Co. that I picked up last week at Michaels. It is so darn cute. And how cute is my dog? She cracks me up.

The background in this is using two babywipes folded in a square and then you drop drops of dye reinkers on the edge, several colors of your choice, and then you swipe the babywipe across the cardstock. I sprayed a little water on this so it would run a little and then embossed it. I really like this technique. I found it on the Gina K stamptv site. http://stamptv.ning.com/ This is a really fun site you should check it out.

This is a close up of the baby wipe technique. I used the swipe method for the background and then embossed it with ultra thick embossing powder. After I swiped the baby wipe I sprayed a little water and let it run. The figure and words are done with wipes as ink pad. The paper is Basic Grey, and the Stamps Tim Holtz.

This is a cupcake stamp from imaginiance that I got for a dollar. It is from their grab and go stamps.

I got this new stamp set by Hero Arts along with another on with more birds, the next card. Anyway when I was in Stampers Corner buying my Tim Holtz alcohol inks I saw these stamps and a lot of paper that I want. I rummaged around and found enough change to buy these two. I just love the using the baby wipe as an ink pad.

Two more birds and the saying is perfect. I did this one for my class at the senior center last week.

I will be back soon with a list of blog addresses for the rest of the design team. Have a great evening.

I've Been Sick and really Busy.

Finally the photos of the studio before and after the move. I still have some things to finish up in the new space but it is pretty much done. These first photos are before when I was in the extra bedroom. This was my work space. I did have a window to look out onto the side yard. My computer desk.

storage And this is what it looked like when I started the move. Too much stuff.

The living room before I painted and moved stuff out. This is the TV corner

This is the view looking into the family room/ kitchen area.

This is the TV corner now. George has been collecting Bird Cages for me. I'm going to make paper birds and use flowers and vines to decorate them.

This is looking at the room from behind my desk/work table. And my desktop is a mess as usual.

The curtain rods against the wall to hang the punches on worked great. On the right side of the shelf are two shoe bags that I use to hold my SU wheels.

I have access to the space under the table from both sides now. It gives me a lot more room.

I have tons of room to work now and it is so much more light and airy, I can hold classes and have open house weekend now and not have to hall everything from one room to another.

This is my mom and I a very long time ago. 1955 actually. Like the way mom dressed for camping? We spent a lot of time camping when I was growing up and then My husband and I always have camped. Not anymore though. The ground is too hard any more. The paper I used is cosmo cricket and the trees that are across the back on top are a Tim Holtz stamp.

I have several of these frames that I bought at the dollar store a long time ago. I put the inside together with paper, vintage photo, and ribbon and then I put the smaller frame on the outside of the glass along with layered flowers and a few charms. I can't wait to do the others. I love this photo and I really like the eyelash ribbon.

This is an 8"X8" layout that I made using the Mojo Monday Sketch week before last. I'm going to do a album of 8X8's using all Mojo sketches. That will be fun. This is the imaginisce paper again. I do like this stuff.

I dyed the fabric flower with felt pen and then added a Verve stamped flower to the center.

More flowers, a journal tag and some buttons finish it all off.

Cousins: Maddie and Kylie laying on the couch at Nana's house. This is some K & Co. paper that is perfect for little girls and Vintage projects. I love all the distressed layers on this.

Claudette and KayLynn on spring break. I had so looked forward to having Claudette around and then I ended up getting the flu the second day I had her and was so sick all week I just wanted to die. I did get this Layout finished for 52Sketches52Weeks though. The paper is Me and My Big Ideas. I love everything about this piece. I cut all the flowers from the pattern paper and layered them up and added rhinestones and glitter for the centers. I stitched around the outside edge of the circle and stitched the beads on the inside edge. I added some pink pearls, and ribbon and a few buttons.

I love this stamp. Kathleen let me stamp some images the other day and I couldn't wait to make something with it. Images are colored with colored pencils, the background dot paper is from Target and the mustard colored paper is SU. Claudette made this puppet for a school project and it turned out so cute. The paper is imaginisce, I love those little birds and the flowers

Can you believe that adorable little fox is one of imaginisce Snag 'em Stamps. $1.00. Yea! The ovals are cut with my new Nesties scalloped ovals and plain ovals. The flower strip across the center of the page is another Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Verve Stamps had a release party last night and these are the 4 challenges that I made for it. My #'s weren't picked but I will try again next month. I really like the sketches on the Mojo Monday Blog, The Verve Forum at SCS and the Julie always has great samples on her blog at Poetic Artistry. This first card is made with SU paper and stamp. Playful Petals Stamp is Inkadinkado paper is some new K & Co. that I picked up at Michaels last week. It is so cute. Actopus to Zelephant

The stamps are digital from Digital Stamp Oasis. They have some really nice stamps. I need to figure out how to do that link thing. Any way the paper is imaginisce. This paper is so cute.

Paper is Su and the image is Magnolia. I colored this with colored pencils and then use Flower Soft on the flowers and Crystal Effects on the boots and gloves.

I just finished this layout this morning. It is for the weekly Sketch at 52Sketches52Weeks #15. This is so springy. The paper is Basic Grey. I cut out flowers from the paper along with the stems and leaves and then I machine stitched the stems and leaves. You can see it better in the next few photos. I also distressed the stripe piece of paper and stitched it down. I ran the edge of the photo through a cuttlebug border embossing folder and then took a sanding block to the design. The flowers shown here are made from some die cut flowers and flowers that were on the paper as well as one acrylic die cut that I painted with mod podge and then sprinkled chunky glitter on it. The alpha stickers are from the dollar store and I put them on a piece of acrylic and hid the dimensionals with rhinestones.

The butterfly and a few of the flowers come from a dollar bin somewhere. I added some stickels to the centers of the flowers.

This was a really fun layout to do. I have a new one that I want to get started on and I think it will be one of my best yet. At least I hope so.

More flowers.

I got to get the new Tim Holtz Light and Bright Alcohol Inks today and they came in one of the really nice TH cases. That is how our local scrapbook store put them together. I sat down and made a color chart today and I will be using them on my next layout. I'll be back soon, I hope.
Have a great week!
